| BP Shop was built by the Thompon team in 3 months. The projcect is located on West Street, Ashburton and was designed to the client's requirements. The plans were drawn in-house by Thompson and Thompson also managed the building conscent. The 300sqm floor area has an office, kitchen/prep room, cool room/freezer, staff cafe area, 3 toilets, cafe, seating area and merchandise shelving. BP Shop was only shut down for 4 days while demolishing the old and opening the new. This allowed the client to maintain busienss as usual during a majority of the construction time.

This building is located on the corner of Jones and Hoskyns Road at the entrace of the flourishing izone industrial area in Rolleston. The building has been specifically designed by Thompson to suit the fuction of the business while achieving aesthetics. A 2000sqm ground floor area provides a 870sqm workshop with full length gantry crane for machinery maintenace and repairs and a 400sqm showroom with plenty of office space. D&E offers everything from John Deer toys and merchandise through to Honda Power Equipment, mowers, golf and turf equipment and the range of Polaris ATVs and side-by-sides. "The new premises will allow us to offer even better customer services as we are constantly striving to respond to the ever changing needs of the agricultural industry in our area," says Chris Rayner, D&E Christchurch Branch Manger.

"Farmers Mill used Thomsons for the construction of our new flourmill. Because of the time constraints in getting this project up and running, the Board had no doubt that Thomsons would be the only company in the South Island that could meet the construction schedule required for this technically challenging build. Using in house design and “out of the Square” building concepts and lateral thinking, ensured that the whole project went without any holdups and ended up 7 days ahead of schedule, despite some of the most inclement weather that South Canterbury has had in recent times. Our Projects Overview
Drummond and Etheridge, East Street - Ashburton
New offices, workshop and showroom
Design and Construction of Drummond and Etheridge’s new office’store and Workshop was completed by Thompson Construction & Engineering in September 2010.
The Thompson objective from the beginning of this project was to come up with a practical and cost effective design without compromising the appearance and aesthetics of the building.
Drummond and Etheridge approached Thompson to come up with a concept that covered their brief, incorporating every aspect of their John Deere operation. Sales, servicing, parts and administration areas are all specifically tailored to their needs. Matt Galbraith from Drummond and Etheridge writes:
“One of the best decisions made throughout the entire build process was appointing Thompson’s as both the main contractor and also in the role of project manager. Our initial concepts for the dealership were simply not affordable, so we needed to work with a company that could still provide the functionality we required, but also at a sensible price tag. Thompson’s not only redesigned the vision, they delivered on it also, coming in on time and budget.”
The Project Management involved the site-works design, costing, contractor appointment and overall management from “paddock to pavement”. An ECAN consent for the storm water discharge was also required and this was handled by Thompson’s in addition to the council consents.
Matt Continues, “We have had nothing but positive feedback from our clients and our staff now have a facility that they can be proud of also. Throughout the entire process, Thompson’s have been professional, efficient and best of all, run by characters who share similar values to Drummond & Etheridge, with a “down to earth”, “can do” mentality. Thompson’s were recommended to us by our clients and we would certainly recommend them to anyone considering a design and build project. We have already used them on our Timaru Dealership refurbishment and look forward to working with them on future projects”.
